Does any of this sound familiar?

See whether this looks like the right place to start.

These examples are there to help you choose a route. They do not mean you definitely have a valid claim or that compensation will be due.

✓
THIS ROUTE MAY BE RELEVANT

You may want the circumstances reviewed if…

  • You used PCP, Hire Purchase or another regulated motor-finance agreement during the scheme period.
  • The dealer or broker received commission and you do not remember the arrangement being clearly explained.
  • You were told you were getting the “best” or only finance option and are unsure how lenders were selected.
  • You have already complained, or the lender has contacted you, and you want the circumstances organised for review.
i
A DIFFERENT ROUTE MAY FIT BETTER

This check may be less likely to match if…

  • You bought the vehicle outright without finance.
  • You used a separate personal loan rather than motor finance arranged for the vehicle.
  • The agreement was Personal Contract Hire (PCH) — this is outside the FCA motor-finance redress scheme.
  • The agreement started outside the FCA scheme period, although a different complaint issue may still need separate consideration.

Still unsure? You can use “Not sure” in the form or start with the general check.

What matters first

The key details around what happened.

We focus on the facts you remember — what was recommended, explained or arranged, and what concerns you now.

01

Commission or the dealer/broker relationship was not clear to you.

02

You are unsure whether the interest rate or lender choice was influenced by commission.

03

You no longer have the agreement and want to start with the facts you remember.

04

You have already complained or received a lender update and want the position reviewed.

What we will ask

A few details that help tell the story.

The questions are split into simple steps, starting with the product and then what happened around it.

  • What type of finance was it?
  • When did the agreement start?
  • Who was the lender or finance provider?

  • Do you remember being told the dealer or broker would receive commission?
  • Were you told the dealer had searched for the best finance or that this was the only suitable lender?
  • Have you already complained to the lender about this agreement?
  • If you complained, have you received a response?
  • Has the lender contacted you about motor-finance redress?

Car Finance FAQs

Questions people usually ask.

For general questions about MFCC, privacy or what happens after you send an enquiry, use the main FAQs.

View all FAQs →
Do I need my old finance agreement to start?

No. Start with what you remember. If you know the lender, agreement date or finance type, include it, but missing paperwork does not stop you sending the check.

Does the FCA scheme cover every car-finance agreement?

No. The scheme has eligibility rules and exceptions. Personal Contract Hire (PCH), for example, is not included. The check does not tell you that compensation is due; the circumstances still need to be reviewed.

Can I complain to the lender myself?

Yes. You do not have to use a claims management company. You can complain directly to the lender for free and, where relevant, use the Financial Ombudsman Service without paying a claims-management fee.

What if I have already sent a complaint?

Tell us in the form. A previous complaint or lender response can affect the next step, so it is useful for the claims firm to know.

Does submitting this form join me to the FCA scheme?

No. MFCC sends your enquiry to the claims firm named on the form. It does not itself register you into the FCA scheme or guarantee that an agreement is eligible.
