Fees & your options
There’s no charge to complete and send the MFCC check. If the claims firm can help and offers a service, it should explain the cost and terms before you agree to anything.
What happens after the free check
You should always know what you’re agreeing to and what it will cost before a paid service starts.
Answer a few questions about what happened and send the enquiry when you’re ready.
The claims firm may charge for its service. It should explain the fee, terms and cancellation rights before you agree to go ahead.
Read the information, ask if anything is unclear and only go ahead if you’re comfortable with it.
Before you agree to a paid service
Do not rely on a headline percentage alone. Read the provider’s documents and make sure you understand when a fee could become payable.
Check what the percentage or charge is applied to, whether VAT is included and whether any cap or minimum charge applies.
Understand what counts as a successful outcome and whether any other charges could apply.
Read the cooling-off and cancellation information and keep a copy of any agreement you sign.
Compare the paid service with complaining directly yourself and using FOS or FSCS where relevant.
Free alternatives
You can contact the financial business yourself for free. Depending on the circumstances, the Financial Ombudsman Service or Financial Services Compensation Scheme may also be available without a claims-management fee.
